BYD Service Intervals

What BYD's own maintenance schedules say for its electric and DM-i plug-in hybrid cars, and why servicing at a BYD repairer matters for your warranty and breakdown cover.

Quick answer: BYD's electric cars have their main checks every 24 months or 20,000 miles. DM-i plug-in hybrids need an oil and filter change every 12 months or 10,000 miles, because they have a petrol engine. Whichever comes first, time or mileage, applies.

BYD UK doesn't publish servicing prices, so ask your BYD repairer for a quote. The schedules below are from the owner's manuals; check your own model's manual in the docs library.

Electric models (Atto 3 EVO example)

The Atto 3 EVO manual (p.207) lists these checks every 24 months or 20,000 miles:

  • Brake pads and discs, brake pipes and hoses
  • Steering wheel and tie rods
  • Drive shaft boots, ball joints and boots
  • Front and rear suspension

The manual asks for checks more often if you drive on muddy, sandy, snowy or dusty roads, tow a trailer or carry a roof rack, or do many short trips under 5 miles in sub-zero weather.

Servicing and your warranty

BYD's warranty policy makes cover conditional on servicing to BYD's schedule. Servicing at an authorised BYD repairer also extends BYD Assistance roadside cover.
